Dear SSOMS members,

As we get closer to our annual meeting, we wanted to give the membership an update about our SEOMS Educational Foundation.

We incorporated our Foundation in 2018 with the goal of getting all active members to contribute $1,000, so the foundation could cover all educational expenses at our annual meetings. So far 87 members have contributed to the Foundation; 58 members have contributed at least $1,000.

For the past three years the Foundation has paid all our educational expenses at the annual meetings. The SEOMS Educational Foundation is functioning as we all hoped it would; to cover the ever-escalating costs at our annual meetings.

The corpus of the Foundation is invested in multiple mutual funds with the Vanguard Group and has done well because the stock market has performed so well. Overall, the Foundation is in a good financial position to continue to cover expenses.

As we approach our meeting at the Breakers in May, we would like to thank all the members who have contributed to the Foundation! We would also like to encourage all other members to participate in the $1,000 goal. It does not have to be done with one donation; it can be cumulative over several years.

We have found that setting up the Foundation to receive credit card donations online is outrageously expensive, but we will be able to take credit card donations at the upcoming annual meeting at the Breakers. However, if you prefer to donate by check, please mail your donation to the address below or bring it to the annual meeting and give it to Melissa, Hank or me.
