Ronald Marks, DDS

Dr Ronald Marks is Clinical Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at LSU Medical Centers and LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He holds a BA in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and is a Doctor in Dental Surgery from Loyola University of the South.

Over an illustrious career spanning more than four decades, Ronald has held numerous prestigious professional, academic and leadership appointments. He has been president and chairman of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Anesthesiology, and has held professorships of oral and maxillofacial surgery at several of Louisiana’s foremost medical schools and teaching hospitals.

Besides his leadership roles within the foremost academic and professional bodies and associations of dentistry and anesthesiology in the US, Ronald has also consulted with the US Army and led task forces, committees and delegations on behalf of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and others. He was Representative to the House and Senate Health and Welfare Committees and Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.  In 1999, he was presented with the Distinguished Dental Award by the Louisiana Dental Association.

A prolific author and speaker, Ronald has published extensively in many of the world’s leading dental and maxillofacial journals and chaired innumerable national conferences. He most recently represented Louisiana State Board of Dentistry on patient safety and anesthesiology.

Robert is married to Nat and is father to Alan and Rowan. An avid golfer, he also enjoys traveling, walking and reading in his spare time.
